About the method

A method for the people who’d rather feed AI their expertise than fear it.

I Eat AI for Breakfast is the open movement around SMETP — the Subject Matter Expertise Transfer Protocol. A practical way to capture how a real expert actually works and turn it into a portable skill any modern LLM stack can use.

The protocol is MIT-licensed. The community is free to join. The method is opinionated and built to be copied.

What SMETP actually is

A protocol, not a product. Three things you can copy, modify, and run yourself:

A discovery interview

A 5-minute structured voice conversation that captures the decisions, vocabulary and edge cases an expert actually uses at work.

A portable skill.md

The capture compiles into a runnable workflow + dictionary + ontology + persona. One file, plain markdown, runs anywhere.

An open SDK

MIT-licensed npm packages — @smetp/spec, @smetp/sdk, @smetp/cli, @smetp/runtime — bring-your-own LLM, no lock-in.

One method, many surfaces

SMETP is the engine. I Eat AI for Breakfast is what we ship on top of it.

Discovery sessions

A free, hosted way to run an SMETP interview and walk away with a real skill.md.

The Twin runtime

A persistent, cited Twin compiled from a discovery — chatable, deployable to any LLM host.

The Breakfast Club

Three drops a week — one tactic, one workflow story, one sharp take.

The published spec

SMETP versioned spec with examples, edge cases and validation rules — open on GitHub.

Ontology packs

Domain starter graphs (research, support, ops, healthcare) so a discovery isn’t cold-started.

A reference CLI

@smetp/cli — run an interview from a terminal, compile, validate, export.

Why bother

Most AI tools want to replace your expert. SMETP captures them so the AI you already pay for finally gets useful. The bet: in a world where models keep changing, the durable thing is a clean, structured record of how the work actually gets done.

We’d rather you eat AI for breakfast than the other way around.
